H. Widayat's Paintings on Paper
To Indonesian collectors, paintings on paper are less popular than paintings on canvass. In general, paintings on paper, such as certain works by maestro H. Widayat, are still being underestimated. Whereas in fact, there are artists who paint on paper better than on canvass.

Many collectors certainly admire H. Widayat's oil paintings on canvass with decora-magic motifs and strong textures. However, his paintings on paper, whether water color, acrylic, pastel, sketch or woodcut are of equal excellence; if not more attractive, because of their wide variety.

Mrs. Mien Widayat, H. Widayat's wife, always paid extra attention and care for her husband's paintings on paper. Through the years, she has carefully kept many of them. Alas, H. Widayat only knew about it after she died.

Mrs. Mien's collection was exhibited for the first time at Gajah Gallery, Singapore, in 2001. The exhibition brought a tremendous success, with raves and praises from Singapore's art lovers. In Singapore, paintings on paper have been well appreciated for a long time. H. Widayat, who attended the exhibition, was emotionally touched by the success.

Now, Hotel Padma Bali has the honor to exhibit H. Widayat's collection of paintings on paper. It is a great opportunity for art lovers to further explore H. Widayat's works and to acknowledge his great art, which is difficult to rival in creativity and productivity.

Hopefully art lovers will be able to appreciate and love H. Widayat's paintings on paper as much as his other works on canvass.
